I have recently updated my iMac desktop computer to El Capitan. Since then, when I scan pictures using my Epson scanner and make adjustments to them in PSE11 then try to save them in the Finder /Pictures folder, the Finder window shows but greyed out and none of the operation buttons will function. I then have to Force Quit PSE11 to clear the screen. Can anyone possibly suggest a solution please?

Can't Save Scans To Finder/Pictures Folder

You might be out of luck with this.
Adobe, per their websites, say they only support PSE 14. Many people have been complaining about this issue since El Capitan came out, with no resolution. Also other issues with 11 on El Cap. And probably won't be any resolutions since 3.5 yo software.
Only support matrix I can find shows PSE 11 stopping at Mavericks/10.9.
Only solution out there is to copy the file you are editing and put it where it will eventually be and edit that copy.

Thanks for the reply. I am becoming very disappointed with iMac. I have found so many things I cannot do that I was always able to do with Windows each time it was updated especially as PSE11 was the only option available other than the more expensive Photoshop. I had Photoshop 6 before which of course would not work with iMac.

Wherever I put the copy, as I can't edit it with PSE11 the only option would seem to be to save the file as a Photo and edit it with iPhoto but the editing options are limited. I guess I will have to go with that.
The only other option is to revert to a previous backup for Mavericks 10.9. Do you suppose that would be a problem?

Hello Both. Thanks for the replies. Tommo, I was thinking I might try GIMP. NoBoMac, I didn't really want to do that because of any advantages El Capitan brings. So, I think I will wait for a while incase an update comes from Apple that might solve the problem. Failing that, I will give GIMP a go. Thank you Both again for your help.
Just found this from another forum. It worked for me.
¨So, if you're planning on editing a photo, copy the photo to a new folder (just to avoid making unchangeable edits to the original file). Then, open photoshop, on the menu bar select 'adobe photoshop elements 11 editor', and select preferences, and then general from the dropdown menu. A window will open. Here select "saving files". Change "On first save" to 'Save over current file'.
This allows you to save any edits you have made over the file you have open.
Its not a solution to the problem however. If you choose save as, the program will freeze once again. Also, though you can finally save files again, you cannot rename them, or change the file type within adobe photoshop - incredibly annoying!!!¨
It’s not a perfect solution by the looks of it (though you should only need to make the Preferences change once), but it does get around the problem when trying to ‘Save as’. Hopefully though there is an Adobe fix for the problem...
