Just got :apple: TV a couple of days ago and enjoying it quite a bit!

The only problem I have noticed so far is that a bunch of video files that I converted from .mpeg to .m4v (via convert to ipod command in itunes) won't be seen by apple TV. It wasn't seen even when it was as a MPEG file. It plays fine on my itunes. I would like to know if there is an obvious answer to this conundrum or it is some idiosyncracy...

I would greatly appreciate your feedbacks.

Has it actually synced to your AppleTV? Look beside the AppleTV entry on the left hand side of iTunes and see if there's an exclamation mark beside it - if so click it to find out if any of the files failed to sync. The AppleTV is very picky about formats and resolutions etc so if you don't get it just right they won't sync.

If this is the case you migth want to try the 'Export to AppleTV' setting in Quicktime Pro, or a free utility like Handbrake which now has an AppleTV preset.
