Cant seem to use "any!" mac software on my Ibook

I have a 14" ibook (32vram) the white one, it came with osx 10.2.

Anyway i decided to use linux so i got rid of the osx partition but now i want it back, however when i try to install from my rescue disks it fails saying:

ApplePMU::CLOCK RESET! PMU WAS PROBABLY RESET SOMEHOW!!
Security Auditing service present
BSM auditing present
SAM: Multimedia: READ or WRITE failed, ASC = 0x08, ASCQ = 0x03

so i bought a copy of disk warrior and tried to boot from that and the same happens!!
I mat my wits end on how to solve this mystery i know the cd works fine and i know the hdd is fine because i can use and install linux with no problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It's likely that you will have to remove all partitions from the drive, create a Mac OS X partition and a Linux partition, then install each operating system.

Thanks for the quick reply, im not sure how i can get rid of all the partitions and create a new mac one when i cant seem to boot from "mac" disks its really strange every linux distro ive tried is fine but mac software falls over in seconds of trying to boot from it.

Ive also tried the software on other mac's and ibooks and the software worked fine so its not the media either

You may have to venture into the Open Firmware to fix things, but I'm uncertain as to a course of action. You will probably want to check Apple's support information on the subject. I suspect that you will be able to reset the PMU to the settings Mac OS X expects and you won't need to boot from a CD-ROM to do it. Getting into Open Firmware requires holding down a few keys after the boot tone. I believe those keys are Command-Option-O-F but I don't remember.

Tried:
If the computer is on, turn it off.

Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.

Wait 5 seconds.

Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.

didnt seem to do a lot and ive tried in open firmware:

Reset-nvram
set-defaults
reset-all

ive also tried the chime reset held the keys down for 5 chimes and still its the same it doesnt make sense just cant get any mac software working its a complete puzzle

Have you got access to another Mac?

Try to access the ibook using target disk mode via firewire. If you can do this, then you are are able to salvage any data you want off of the drive. Then you should be able to completely format and partition the ibook drive from the second mac, allowing you to start with a clean slate. Since you have already reset the PRAM and I am assuming you have also also reset the PMU, formatting would be the next step.

not entirely sure how to do that, ive had a look at "words" in open firmware but cant find it.

Ive also formated the drive via a special linux disk i have that allows me to low level format and make partitions all be it not HFS ones.

just to confirm can i C boot an original retail version of jaguar or panther even if the HDD contains no data such as the bootstrap?
ive a feeling the disks i got with this mac are meant for another ibook.

I work at a large retail company you see and we are official mac resellers i got this one cheap as it "couldnt read the disks" i now know that the cdrom works fine so ive borrowed a retail version of both jaguar and panther from work to try those but im still having the same error.
