I have a late 2009 2.26Ghz. Mini and a 24" LED Cinema Display. Whenever I have a plug in the audio out jack on the rear of the Mini I cannot select "Display Audio" as the default output. I can only select Headphones or any other USB audio device as default. If I select Display Audio the selection immediately pops back to Headphones.

The cable plugged into the output jack is not a set of headphones. It is connected to an Amateur Radio device that will never be used to listen to any normal computer sounds.

Is there a command line "software switch" that will disable the feature that prevents "Display Audio" from being selected as default when a plug has been inserted into the audio output jack on the back of the Mini.

Even when application software allows the selection of Display Audio it is not possible (or easy) to adjust the volume on the Display Audio if it is not the default device.

Thanks - Mike
