Can't send photos from photo dockbar

So I've recently got a new iPhone XR, I can't seem to send a photo from the photos dock app inside iMessage.

If I go to All photos and select a photo nothing happens at all.

Is there a fix for this?

Do you have iCloud Photo Library turned on? If so do you have anything that would prevent a photo from downloading ie no data, airplane mode, etc etc?

If not try reseting the phone real quick, could just be a hick up as it works fine for me.

thanks for replying, it's weird because I only recently got a new iPhone XR and it was also doing it on my iPhone 6s, I'll try what you mentioned
