Currently im running Catalina 10.15.5 on 2014 MBA. And im not able to send txt messages using Messaging app to Android users. It fails every single time. But I have no issues sending txt messages to people who use iPhones.

I logged out and logged in to the Messaging app on my Mac several times and the issue persists. This has been ongoing issue for the past 3 updates.

I can sent txt messages from my iPhone to android users with out issues.

Does anyone have a fix?

Thanks in advance.

First: usually if you’re messaging an iPhone user it is an iMessage that is being sent; if you try to communicate with Android phone via the messages app, it is sending SMS.

with that in mind... Have you verified the settings on your phone for text message forwarding? Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, make sure the switch next to the name of your MBA is set to on. Sometimes that gets turned off. And if it’s off, you won’t be able to send messages from your Mac to non-Apple devices such as Android phones.

That was it. I cant believe it was so simple.

Thank you again!

No problem! I was about to delve into my recent problems sending SMS from my phone, but then remembered this issue... I’ve run into it before where a Mac gets toggled off in the settings somehow. Glad that did the trick!
