Friends, I have a new problem with using a MacBook. I want videos to open in the VLC application, and photos in the xnView application. I downloaded these programs from the official website, they work, but when I set them to be used as default programs, MacOS gives an error that the application has not passed the test and offers to delete it.

If it is set so that files (avi, mkv, jpg, etc.) open in the application by default, then through the "open with" menu everything opens normally. What is this disgrace? I understand that MacOS is an operating system on its own wave, but why it behaves this way with third-party applications when you assign them by default, I do not understand.

How can I make photos and videos open by default in the applications in which I want?
