iPad Can't set new photo for ipad home screen on my new ipad

I just got an 8th gen ipad to replace a broken 6th gen ipad and I can't set my own photo on the home screen.
I can set the lock screen photo ok, but there seems to be no way to choose a photo from my own photos on the ipad.
This worked fine on my old ipad but the feature seems to be missing now.
Can anyone please advice how to set up a different photo for the home screen on the new ipad on ipados 14?

I thought via the photo in Photos - share - sorry not on my iPad right now. On my iPhone it’s in the share menu of that photo.

Try going to Settings / Wallpaper.

Change the wallpaper on iPad

On iPad, choose an image or photo as wallpaper for the Lock Screen or Home Screen.

I can do the same thing in order to set a photo as wallpaper. OP might be looking in the wrong place.
