It keeps asking for a payment method which I already have paypal set up for and use often automatically but when trying to set this up on my iPad pro I click on SET UP FAMILY SHARING, then GET STARTED, then APPLE MUSIC for which I have the family membership active and it confirms its ready but then when I select INVITE VIA MESSAGES then it pops up with PAYMENT METHOD REQUIRED, ADD A PAYMENT METHOD TO THIS APPLE ID IN iTUNES AND APP STORE SETTINGS.

Any ideas please?

Ben, I think iTunes et al treats Family Sharing as a new account. So, even though you’ve set up PayPal as your payment method for your personal account, you’ll have to do the same thing for Family Sharing. It’s hardly the simplest way to go about it, but it does allow the option of an alternative payment method to both keep family purchases separate from your personal ones, and control those family purchases without affecting your personal ones.

I don’t see an option to list another payment option? I’ll have a play today and try changing my default payment from PayPal to my bank card. I prefer PayPal as I always have a balance there but maybe this is the issue? Thanks

Yep, just done the set up procedure from my MBP this morning and it said that you have to have a credit or debit card as the payment method. Why it just didnt say this when doing on my iPad last night i'll never know, perhaps thats just too easy :O
