iPad cant setup

I have been asked to setup someones iPad, they have given me, what they said is the apple id and password but it comes back each time that it is wrong. Could the reason be that it's my internet connection I've given it and it's expecting my apple id and password or what?

If it says its wrong, it's wrong. Double-check the spelling. You might also be aware if you typed any spaces. Taking it slow might really help.

I've checked the spelling 3 times the only thing I can do is when this friend of mine comes back tomorrow to collect it as him the owner's phone number to insert in forgot password if the apple id is right because it's his daughters

Hmm... try to sign-in the apple ID here: https://appleid.apple.com/#!&page=signin
If you can sign-in, then the apple ID and password is correct and the iPad is the problem. And if the iPad is the problem, I suppose what you need to do is to restore your iPad to factory settings.

I also suggest contacting Apple Support. They might have a better troubleshooting step.
