I hope someone can help me with this. I've been jailbreaking different versions of the iphone for years. Recovered via DFU on many occasions but I am stuck.

I did purplera1n and just install cydia and then a few apps. I then installed winterboard and it asked to reboot which I said yes and I am stuck at the apple logo. If I have it plugged in via usb cable and hold both buttons down it shut down after 10 secs or so but then it comes right back online at the apple logo. If I don't have it plugged in it appears to turn off after a hard shutdown but then when I turn it on it goes to the logo.

I can't go into DFU since I can't shut it down.

Any ideas?

Also, the one time I had brought the phone into the apple store I did a factory reset before hand. If it's indeed bricked and they can't get it to boot either is there still a way for them to know I jailbroke it?

Thanks!

Something that has worked for me when I have hung up is connecting to the computer during bootup. I don't know why, but it has made my phone start a couple times when it seemed not to. I have also had it take a few minutes a couple times. When your waiting for a reboot a couple minutes can seem like forever though.

I let it sit while I went and ran an errand it was still @ the logo.

Murphy's Law, the second I register and post I finally got it to go into recovery mode.

I swear I did the same thing over and over again for about 30 minutes and got nowhere, but after I posted I went back to try again and after a few tries holding the key down and a shutdown worked.

I'm still going to jailbreak it again so we'll see. Seems like when I have a bunch of apps installed and then jailbreak it's more flakey then doing it from a clean recovery/restore.

I have heard it is not good to restore from a previous jailbreak with Blackrain. I never jailbroken my phone before Blackrain and have not had any problems, but have read many people that have.
