I'm using Cyberduck and I chose SSH-FTP and I put in my IP address for the phone and under username: root, then alpine for pw. PLEASE HELP. It won't connect.

Yea- I was able to do it before and now I can't for some reason... Got openssh installed on the phone and I'm using Cyberduck on my mac. What's going on...!?

I get an I/O error

What happens when you try using terminal? Did you clear out your known_hosts file in the /~.ssh directory?

I haven't tried terminal (don't know to really use it that much..).

I'm trying to get access to the file/directories so I can copy a file from my desktop to the phone. I've done it a bunch of times before but can't do it.

I put in my IP address, choose the FTP-SSH protocol, then put in the username (root) and pw (alpine). It defaults on port 22. Then when I try it says I/O error.

I've tried both creating an ad hoc wifi network just between the computer and iphone and then trying it like normal on my main wifi network at home: DOESN'T WORK

Did you clear out your ~/.ssh/known_hosts file? Just trying to get a baseline to start from.

Terminal is easy btw, open it and type: ssh root@ip_address. Let me know what messages you get after clearing the file and using terminal.

How do you clear the files? If the files are on the phone, I can't get access to them...

Thanks

I don't understand where that is. I click on my HD, then in Users or System or what?

Press Shift-Apple-G, when it says Go to folder, type ~/.ssh. Open the known_hosts file and highlight all the text, if any, delete it, save and exit. Then try to ssh using terminal and let me know what messages come up.

I did that (there was stuff in the file) and I tried Cyberduck again and no luck... I don't know how to do it using terminal. Would that be any difference from Cyberduck though?

I just gave you directions how to use terminal above. *points up* Unfortunately I don't know anything about Cyberduck. I use terminal and sometimes Fugu. Maybe download Fugu and we can talk shop.

"Connection closed by remote host"

At least that points us in A direction. :)

Looks like perhaps the RSA key pairs don't match. One link above, the guy used Mobile Term I suppose to regenerate the keys on their iPhone. Some look like they also reinstalled OpenSSL along with OpenSSH. Others restored their phone to get working again. I'd say the easiest to try is option 2 then go from there as appropriate. Good luck!
