hello i've a mac pro 5.1 2010 2x2.4ghz quad, i was preparing the upgrade to 2x3.46ghz w3690, but after replaceed the cpu, the machine can start with apple diagnostic tone, but it can't go through the start to menu, not to reinstall system, when the start process bar run to about 1 third way, it shows a black screen with dos like message, and then it restart over again. can anyone help please?

i've alreday upgraded the efi firmware to install high sierra system, ram 1333 ddr3, shows in system 1066, when i put back the original cpu, it work perfectly without any issue.

btw, i've tested the same model cpu on my mac pro 4.1 upgraded 5.1, it's the same problem, i wonder if it's compatable or not, but i've seen the same serie number cpu sold on ebay with good reply. so it's shouldn't be the compatable problem. have not a clue, anyone please help! thanks.

I could be wrong but I don’t think the w3690 works in a dual cpu configuration.
