Can't steam via itunes and front row, if any bigger than Apple's iTunes Movies?

Well, this whole streaming content around the house started to sound exciting to me.

However, I then noticed a big problem with it all.

On my systems, anything with a higher bitrate than the iTunes TV shows doesn't stream, it just locks up iTunes, when I try to play it. Anyone else have this problem?

I encode some shows myself in about 640x480, with 1500kbps, in H264, about 300MB files total. However, this won't stream.

It sure seems like a serious limitation. I'm on a G wireless network, with both computers right by the router, so its mega good signal strength.

Am I doing something wrong, or have others noticed this too? Thanks.

When you encode your shows, do you then drop them into iTunes? (I was wondering how you view shared 'movies')

Since your machines sound like they're close to the router, do you have a couple of network cables (or at least one) to try, instead of the Wireless?

Yes, I guess I should try a cable just for the fun of it. However, the real point I was doing this was to stream the content to to the living room (which is what a lot of others will be hoping to do with the new Mac Mini too).

Yes, I always drop the shows into iTunes, after encoding. It's nice.

Seems to me that Apple may not be offering any higher resolution programs anytime soon (i.e. movies), for they won't stream, which is a big feature they're pushing on the Mac Mini. Unless they re-write some of the software to accommodate the larger sizes. Surely the computer could buffer 30 seconds and start playing , or something. Even my files are very small in reality, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to make it work, but it doesn't.
