Hello,

I have noticed that you can no longer swipe back and forward on finder windows in Yosemite. I previously could do this using my trackpad in Snow Leopard and find myself by habit trying to do it in Yosemite - now you have to click the back button instead.

I can't see any reason to remove this feature and will make a feedback report.
Not sure if this issue is new to Yosemite or whether it is also present in other OSX after SL?

Cheers.

Snow Leopard was the last Mac OS to do this. It went away in Lion with the introduction of Mission Control because three finger swiping is used for dragging and four finger swiping is used to switch between spaces.

You can easily use the keyboard to move forward and backward in Finder windows. The shortcuts are displayed under the Go menu: command-[ to go back and command-] to go forward.

Edit: Changed default three finger behavior to dragging.

Can't check my system preferences setup right now, but I use 4 finger swiping for spaces and three finger swiping works for me in finder. What is weird is that two finger swiping works in safari. I wish I could have the same behavior between safari and finder, but don't feel like messing with the settings and having it not work at all.

Thankyou for the replies.

I really can't see any reason to remove this feature even with the introduction of mission control.

You can still swipe back and forward in Yosemite Safari with 2 fingers (instead of 3 in SL) So why not allow Finder to be swiped back and forward with 2 fingers.

Even if it is turned off by default, I see no reason to completely remove this feature.

I will provide a feedback report regarding this even though it has been like this since Lion.

Many thanks.

Can now swipe Finder Windows

I just filed a feedback report regarding this.

However in the meantime I have discovered that if you change the swipe gesture from 2 fingers to 3 fingers it works on Finder Windows as well as Safari. However 2 fingers only work for Safari.

I also notice that 2 finger swipe in safari you can visually see the page slide across the screen like turning a page (as on IPhone) however 3 finger swipe simply changes the page with no visual slide/drag.
