can't sync outlook contacts?

iTunes cleary sees my outlook calendars but not my contacts.How can I get my contacts on to my iPhone? What would I need to do?

There should be a tab for contacts under iTunes. It will appear when your iPhone is plugged in.

There is a section for contacts under the info tab, but No contacts appear. calendars do though.

This isnt for me, its for my teacher who is switching from a WM to an iPhone 3G. any help?
