I am trying to sync a playlist that I created in itunes over to my iphone but it won't transfer. I seem to have lost the sync function in itunes somehow. Any help would be much appreciated.

How, exactly, are you synching? If you rename the playlist does that help? Is it a smart playlist? Do are you using Apple Music, iTunes Match?
I've just created a playlist in itunes, plugged my phone into the computer and dragged the playlist over. It shows under my iphone on itunes but it's definitely not on my phone. There's no option for me to click on my iphone to sync in itunes anymore for some reason either.
