can't sync reminders from Mac to cloud

I think I'm missing something obvious here, but I can't seem to sync reminders I enter on my mac up to the cloud and onto my iphone. When I add a reminder on the phone, it syncs to my computer. Answers? thanks!

What program on your Mac are you entering the reminder in? iCal?

Opposite problem

I can't get events to go from iPhone through iCloud to my Mac.
