Strange thing happened this evening. Took a photo and realised the shutter was on. But saw the phone was in silent mode.

Restarted the phone, even switched it to live photo (which is supposed to be mute) but it's making the shutter noise too.

I haven't done any updates for a few weeks. Is there a button I might've accidentally clicked? I'm running iOS 17.5.1. Up until this evening the phone has happily taken photos silently.

EDIT: Ok, bizarre update - the phone was in flight mode, and for some reason that knackered silent mode. I take it out of flight mode and silent mode works again.

Go figure.....

did you came back from a travel in Japan (and therefore the iphone was in flight mode)? or is this reproducible what happens on your phone? <- just checked out of curiosity, can’t reproduce this on some european iPhone models.
