Hi All,

I have an iPhone 4 4.3.2 with Baseband 04.10.01 that perfectly worked with a Gevey Sim Card.

I was told i could not upgrade to iOS5 because it will upgrade the baseband as well and make the Gevey turbo sim no longer working, unless i upgrade to iOS5 without upgrading the Baseband such as following tutorial:

http://www.idownloadblog.com/2011/10/13/how-to-preserve-baseband-ios-5-windows-sn0wbreeze/

I scrupulously followed the tutorial and it apparently worked out because f0recast software rightly indicates my iPhone has iOS5 version with my current unlockable baseband... :

But I ten the activation fails either because i need to enter a sim card or because the card simcard inserted is not valid.

Could you please help me and tell me how to do now to activate the iphone ?

Many thanks in advance!

I have the genuine gevey and it works for me. As long as your gevey isn't broken I think it should work for you as well. However, the steps are a bit different for ios5.

First power on your device with and sim in tray.
Then after boot up, go into settings-phone-sim applications and tap instructions and accept.
Wait 15 seconds.
Call 112 and hang up.
Turn on airplane mode and once you see airplane icon turn it off again.
Leave it for around 40 seconds until you see no sim card installed.
Now put it in airplane mode the second time and turn it off once you see airplane icon.
Wait a few seconds your phone should get signal.

This method works for me 100% on ios 5 and does not need to take out sim card at all.

Hi,

many thanks for your input.

The problem is that i'm stuck at the welcome screens, meaning I can’t go into the settings!

Please see here below the kind of screens I’m facing:

And the last screen (I don't find any screenshots showing the screen i got stuck to) says it can't activate... I can't even start by doing the staps required for activating the gevey card.

Thanks for your support !

Oh I see, you cannot activate it.
There's two options, I suggest the first one if you can, it saves you from push notification troubles...

1. You can get a sim card for its original carrier, put it in to activate it and switch in your gevey after.
2. Your second option is to Hacktivate it.
Create another custom firmware with snowbreeze, but choose "Expert mode", and on the Option screen choose "Custom Packages" on the top right, and inside it tick "Hacktivate", and then go back to build the firmware. Restore the new firmware with iTunes and boot tethered. Now you should have a pre-activated + jailbroken iPhone.

Follow this tutorial if needed : http://www.maheshkukreja.com/how-to-jailbreak-ios-5-final-using-sn0wbreeze-to-preserve-baseband

Hi,

thanks a lot for all that precious info. Unfortunately i can't get right now a simcard of the original provider so i built a new custom firmware with Haktivate option enabled.

I launched iReb and restored the iphone with the new custom firmware (shift + click).

It loaded successfully, my phone has rebooted now but it is stuck at logo screen : apple logo and just below a progression bar completely empty....

I relaunched it (power + home button for 10 sec) but i have no progression. It is stuck since 20mins already. Shall i wait longer ??

[EDIT]:

Exactly that screen except the progression bar remains unfortunately completely empty...

It is now booting up, since the hacktivate method relies on a jailbreak, your iPhone is jail broken tethered right now.
All you have to do is open up ibooty from your desktop and follow the instructions on it to do a tethered boot.
Good luck and remember you will have to use ibooty to boot your phone everytime you turn it off!
