I've got a strange problem with my Early 2015 13" MBP - A1502 Model.

Everything was working perfect until I moved my Daughters user data to her new MB Air and then every time I opened Safari it just wouldn't open.

Then when I had an update notification, went through the usual routine and there was no HD to direct the update to.

I've tried re-booting into recovery mode and the HD isn't visible at all.

The MBP 'works' as normal without Safari and I'm currently running Google Chrome which is fine.

I just want to keep it updated and would appreciate any help from the community

I will add that I upgraded the SSD from 256 to 1Gb over a year ago and had no issues with this and any updates worked fine.

Cheers - Chris

If you used a 3rd-party drive for "the upgrade", I'll reckon that THIS is the source of the problem.

Seems I've been reading reports from others that having a non-Apple-original drive inside can mess with updates, particularly firmware updates that are a part of a system OS upgrade.

Do you still have the original, factory-installed 256gb SSD around?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had the SSD changed in July 2020 and it's worked fine until Oct 2021 with updates etc.
I encountered this error straight after I migrated my daughters user to her new MBA and then Safari wouldn't open, it' just crashed, so I changed to Chrome and it worked fine. It was a while after that I couldn't upgrade the OS.
Unfortunately I don't have the original 256gb SSD.
