Can't update os on iMac mid 2011

Have you tried to open "About my Mac" to see if it has updated the version number?

all is lost. I got a green screen and crash on the machine twice this week. Eventually I had a complete failure with no screen starting up. Ended up opening it up to re bake the video card but some wires broke up since the machine is 7 years old there is some heat damage.
