I very recently bought the Mac Mini M4 with base specs except for 512 of SSD space. I have an iphone 14 Pro running the developer beta of iOS 18.3. I have both devices signed in to the same Apple account and they are both on the same wifi network. Bluetooth is on in both devices. I also turned on Continuity Camera on the phone. However when I open Photobooth or Facetime, the iphone does not show up as a camera option. In photobooth, under the camera menu, everything is greyed out and it says no camera available. In Facetime under the video option, automatic camera selection appears but it is greyed out.
I tried connecting the iphone using a cable to the Mac Mini and the camera works in photobooth but not in Facetime. When I disconnect the phone, its back to square one for both apps. Please help.

Yes, and I just learnt that the iphone camera does not work if it is placed in portrait mode. It works with landscape mode only! Why is that?
You've learnt incorrectly.

Landscape mode is required for the iPhone to be selected automatically. Portrait mode can be selected manually.

Follow the troubleshooting linked earlier. Possibly remove the Beta and use 18.2; I don’t have any experience with 18.3 but it’s a possible issue.

Or - use landscape mode ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OOO then how to select portrait mode? Because in portrait mode the iphone cam doesn't even appear as an option.
it needs to be first connected in landscape mode first. than you can position the iPhone in portrait mode and even move iPhone anywhere
