I've had a 27in i7 for a few weeks now and it's been working great. Just the other day, I set up a second user account on the machine for my wife. After messing with some of the preferences under the new profile, I realised that the mouse wouldn't "right-click" at all in that user account. I go into Preferences>Mouse and check the secondary click box, but this has no effect. When I close Preferences and open again, the box is un-checked.

This problem is only in the new user account. My own, original administrator account has no such problem - right-click is working fine.

Any ideas? I'm stumped...

Make sure that the new account can change that kinda settings. Repair permission as well with Disk Utility and if that doesn't help, delete it and create a new one

Thanks for the tips. I was able to change other preferences, like mouse tracking speed etc. I'll try the disk utility thing anyway, and failing that, I guess I'll resort to deleting the account and trying a new one.

This has happened to everyone I know with a Magic Mouse. You did reboot didn't you? That has always been their fix.

I've tried rebooting, to no avail. I'll have to wait until I get home to try Hellhammer's ideas. If I still have no joy, is it something worth ringing Apple support over?

Or try BetterTouchTool. It makes Magic Mouse totally unbeatable. Lets you add dozens of gestures easily and most of them work very well.

It's probably just an error because it work fine on admin. Give BetterTouchTool a try anyway, it really makes the Magic Mouse magical

That looks awesome - thank you! I'll definitely give that a try.
