I video a lot of my kids sporting events in 1080i video from a Sony camcorder. I've been patiently waiting for Apple to have blu-ray hardware in their Mac Pros and software support through iMovie or Final Cut.
Now that Apple TV is getting the 'take 2' treatment, I'm wondering if this works and its effectiveness:
1. Film video in 1080i
2. Use iMovie HD to convert it to 1080i (with H.264) to 1080i Quicktime movie
3. Import QT 1080i movie into itunes
4. Stream movie (file size probably 10G) to AppleTV to a Sony Bravia LCD TV that is 1080p.
I think I understand correctly that if I download a 1080i file to AppleTV it will only send it to a max resolution to the TV of 720p. How about streaming it though? Any difference? Would streaming such a large file be really choppy? Anyone done anything like this out there with some suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any info, etc!
