I know we still don’t know much about the capture button, but I have the feeling it is going to be great and a really convenient way to take pictures.

Now, if the iPhone SE 4 comes with the iPhone 14 chassis (slightly smaller than the 15), I think it’s going to be a great deal, but if it doesn’t… then maybe the iPhone 16 is the one to get. Even if it’s difficult to hold with one hand.

I really think the capture button is going to be more surprising and appealing than what we might think. A capacitive button with tactile controls that will allow us to zoom in and out and capture the image just with one finger. But that’s not all. If Apple wanted, this tactile button could allow us to scroll while browsing the internet or inside apps. And pressing it outside the camera app could have other functions such as taking a screenshot.

If the capture button ends up opening so many possibilities, I seriously doubt they include it on the SE 4. So, depending how useful Apple makes this button, they will sell me an iPhone 16 or not. We’ll see.

Are you hyped about the capture button?

SE4, 14, 15, 16 all will have 6.1”

So why should it be more difficult to hold?

Because the 15 is bigger. And the 16 will inherit the 15’s design.

Same width, depth and weight. I doubt the 1 mm in height makes a diffence.

Based on the options for the Action button, I'd be very surprised if the rumored capture button does not also have an option to do nothing when pressed.

Actually less than a millimeter, 0.9mm in height and 0.1mm in width, so while not exactly the same, you’re right, they are practically the same dimensions. Weird, I thought it was a bit bigger. Thanks for the clarification.

Given the similarity, I prefer the 15/16 form factor (Smoothened edges)

I feel it’s unlikely for the SE4 to get the capture button. It’s probably one of the features Apple wants to be a distinction for the regular iPhone.

But personally I also don’t care about the capture button. I think it’s awkwardly placed (are you supposed to orient the iPhone so that that side is up? What about selfies?), and I also don’t like solid-state buttons.

Well, Mark Gurman kinda says that this is a stopgap year, and more innovation is expected from the iPhone 17, but honestly I don’t know what to think at this point…

Anyways, in less than a month we’ll know!

I'm really excited for the capture button. I think it will be more useful than the action button for my needs. But based on the credible rumors so far, the SE 4 and 16 will have a lot of overlap in key areas: same screen size and refresh rate, 48 MP wide lens camera, and A18 with 8 GB of RAM, action button. I think the capture button will be excluded this generation so that 16 still has some distinctive features. Maybe it will trickle down to the SE for the SE 5.

Totally agree. Maybe it is wiser to wait until spring to see if the iPhone SE 4 is a good deal, or it’s better to just get a 16 for the capture button…

All SE models had old chasis without any inovations.
I highly doubt they will put in the newest feature which they need to upsell the 16.

The SE will stay the very basic iphone it is now.

Pretty sure only the new pro models will get the capture button.
