Capturing Online Video Conferences

I hope I am not posting to the wrong area with the following question.

I am able to watch video conferences on options and charting at this time as part of a program. From an educational standpoint it would be extremely beneficial to refer back to the classes at a later date. Is it possible to capture or record the streaming on line classes? I’m sure it would be very space intensive, yet I feel the benefits outweigh the cost. Would you utilize an external firewire hard drive for storage options of the conferences?

Your replies, suggestions, and ideas are greatly appreciated.

What video conferencing software are you using?

I can suggest using Snapz Pro X, by Ambrosia Software. It seems to be the best screen capture program that there is.

The video conference I am speaking of is just run through their web site. I now have an idea of what to do. Thank you for guiding me in the general direction. If you have had success with their software I think I will try it also.

I'll agree with that (SnapzPro) - although you will have to buy it in order to get the watermark off the video captured file. As a BTW, you can do screen-grabs (partial, total etc) with it. Very easy to use and I've never had a problem with it. Free-to-try downloads.
And as another BTW, Ambrosia also do WireTap Pro that will easily record any audio that is playing on your computer. Invaluable to me for getting stuff off the BBC.
And, FWIW, I store all that sort of material on a Firewire-connected external HD once it had been recorded onto my internal high-speed internal drive.
