In iOS 14 when using maps with Car Play you would get turn by turn directions. If you wanted to turn on guidance only mode by tapping the next navigation. This would keep the directions going but would not audibly announce the directions. With using iOS 15 I haven't been able to find a way to do that.

There are times where I use maps to get out of an area I am in to a major highway, but from there I know where I am going so I don't need SIRI giving me directions, but I like keeping the navigation going for ETA.

Anyone know how to get this feature back?

The speaker icon setting persists between CarPlay sessions so this “work around” isn’t ideal. It’s also not as easy to tap those tiny buttons on the right while driving.

Not sure what you mean. How is what CarPlay has a “work around?”

You get to select mute, alert only, or turn-by-turn and Maps remembers which one you picked. That’s great in my opinion as a lot of people like me drive constantly in a familiar area and want routing on to help guide me the best way, but don’t need every turn announced.
