I have a MBP and two external 2TB drives...one is my Time Machine backup and the other I put all of my media (pics/videos) on vs. blowing up my MBP HD. I use Crashplan for online backup and just downloaded the trial of Carbon Copy Cloner. What I want to do is backup everything on my media drive to my drive that has my TM backup on it and as it changes, files are either deleted or added via CCC. I have started the backup and just selected Safety Net off (traditional clone). Is that what I am looking for?

you want the CCC backup to reflect changes? ie if you delete a file, the backup will also delete it? so it's a mirror of the source?

that's what i use CCC for, and yes, 'safety net' should be off.

If I read you right, you want CCC to interact with your TM backup, (that has my TM backup on it and as it changes, files are either deleted or added via CCC), well that's not going to happen, in fact you'll be lucky if CCC doesn't totally over write your TM backup, in a sense destroying it.
If in fact this is not your intention, then just ignore my post.

seems the OP wants to mirror his media drive, which is easy with CCC. i use it just for this purpose (to mirror my HD)....

Just to be clear, you should NOT setup CCC to clone your media drive TO your TM drive, that will very likely overwrite your TM backup.

If you want to do this then partition the TM drive (you should be able to shrink the current TM partition so not lose that data), into two partition, one for TM and one for the CCC backup of the media drive. That will keep the two backups safely separated.

You will have a space issue at some stage as both drives are 2TB so the backup drive will run out of room before the media drive as it already has the TM space used.
