When apps became availabl a year ago, all I wanted was a business card reader. I always have a pocket full of cards and end up loosing them. Anyways , I saw this and was skeptical. There was only one review and it was from an idiot it seems

They suggest that you use this only if you have a griffin clarify case or those little magnifiers. Well I have a clarify so I bought it. It's $9.99 but still WAY cheaper than a pocket business card reader and is only one gadget to carry.

It rocks. It says it can take 2 days to input a contact but I got mine in hours. I took a picture of two card. One was very tradional and one a little funky. It had a light green background with white text and was hard for me to read looking at it in person. It also had a different layout. Well, the system figured it out in just a COUPLE OF HOURS and I was amaze. Everything was perfect. Name address phone email were all spot on and put directly into my contacts.

Seriously a must have app for anyone who "collects" business cards or networks.

I am psyched about this. And I NEVER post happy app stories. This is my I only one. LOVE IT.

IMHFO a ten dollar app that needs a 30 dollar case to produce blurry business card snaps is totally and uniquely retarded.

I did.. I posted a similar review in the app store, says its in moderation..

Anyways.. A $34 case or a $10 pocket lens is NOTHING compared to the cost of a business card scanner that you have to carry around with you all the time.. I mean, the case is NOT a bad case, its actually a GREAT case and there are rave reviews.. Also, MOST people spend $34 or more on a case anyways.. I didnt buy that case to use the app.. i had the case and bought the app because its the most useful app on my iphone at the moment.

and no, the pictures actually ARENT blurry when you take a picture the way the app says to.. with a lens attachment

And yea, the UI could be cleaner, but seriously, it does what it's meant to do, and its super easy.. snap a picture and submit.. its ALL automatic, nothing else needs to be done.

I think you're retarted for thinking an app that doesnt work when the user specifically doesnt follow the instructions of the app makes a bad review.. Seriously. WHY would you take a review from someone who posted a few words in their review, than from someone who did exactly what the app said and was VERY happy.

I agree with you. This app does look idiotic. I would NEVER rely on this type of app for my business contacts. I would rather take the 5 minutes to manually type in the info into my iphone address book. Not to mention, the screenshots of business card snaps look like absolute crap. And don't even get me started on the fact that CardSnap's server "processes" the business cards which means that they are probably trying to amass some kind of database of business related contacts, for what purposes, who knows. If i ever gave my business card out to someone, i wouldn't want them giving it to some two bit outfit who will probably sell the list of names and numbers to other marketing firms to make additional cash.

I am the developer of this app. This app may not be for you, but there is no reason to speculate on what we do with the data. Our privacy policy is posted on our website and within the app. We do not use the data for any purpose other than processing the cards for the application. We would never sell the information to a marketing firm or anyone else.

First off, I'm not stupid, I looked at the privacy statement. Second off it's no different than MANY of the other apps out there that use the contacts app. Pleanty of apps connect to contacts andthose have FULL access not just business cards.

Clearly you don't spend a lot of time networking. I can go to one event and come home with 10+ cards. That would take forever to enter all of them in. And what about the UI has you so up in as. It might not be the prettiest thing but it definitely is the easiest.

take picture - submit - DONE

There's no going through and adding them all to your contacts. You can go and check on the progress but that's simple and easy.

So it's accurate, quick, and requires you not to have to enter every card you get into your phone and risk loosing a business card

The only thing that would make it better was if you can create groups in the contacts to filter business people.
