I had time yesterday to explore the new CarPlay since upgrading to iOS 15. I love the new wallpapers selection but wished I had more choices. I will google around and see if it's possible to add more wallpaper choices.

I love the light and dark modes. The light mode won and is my favorite. However, I still need to try the dark mode at night to see if I like it.

The Settings app along with more colorful and clean looking graphics help keeps CarPlay well organized and modern looking. Has this always been the case? I don't think so. I can't recall seeing a Settings app previously. The icon is the same settings icon in iOS. That was not there before.

Also I love how with a touch I can toggle between CarPlay and the functions of the Pioneer unit such as Sirius. That function was there previously but it was not apparent how to do this. The new CarPlay organization makes it very apparent and intuitive.

I am using CarPlay in a smooth running 15-yr old truck that I upgraded with a Pioneer unit that features wireless CarPlay. My family and friends are always impressed how this old truck has wireless CarPlay!

None of what you have listed in new in iOS 15...
...except new wallpapers. Everything else is the same as far as I can tell. New Maps update will be huge once that is done later this year. Being able to see the new street level details as well as updated highway interchange view should be really cool.

Care to point to this Pioneer wireless CarPlay you’re using?

Could be because up until now I paid very little attention. The unit always came on automatically and tuned to my favorite Sirius station. Then the only function I used maps via Siri. Never used any other features but now I'm using more features and noting things. For example, via the Pioneer I had Siri read my messages to me for the first time and had Siri send messages for to me.

Wow I can't believe I didn't notice the Settings app previously.

I have a Pioneer Avic-W6400NEX. I've had it installed for a couple years now. At the time it was installed it was on sale everywhere at a huge discount, leading me to believe it was being discontinued. It as everything. Thanks to this unit, my old truck has a backup camera, Bluetooth, CarPlay, Pandora, Sirius, Navigation, and more.

Nice grab. I wish there was something for my Audi. I had to add a touchscreen overlay and run through an Android module to get CarPlay in my 2009 S5.

I only spent the time and money because of Apple Music (and Maps on CarPlay as a bonus!)

Mine has stopped saying directions
Have you muted them? I have them off majority of the time as i mainly use it for traffic updates etc on my commute and other places i'm going to so i know the way. If you click on the arrow bottom left or bottom right depending on which side of the car your steering wheel is on then there could be an option to unmute.

Only thing i noticed with CarPlay on iOS 15 is that you can set siri to automatically read your texts

Biggest improvement for me is that Siri can now process stuff offline. I live in an area with spotty cell service. Good enough to make calls and texts but Siri would constantly be unable to process requests. Now calls and texts work perfectly through CarPlay.
