Hello!

I’ve been having an issue with (wired) CarPlay since the first beta of iOS 18 where Siri can be invoked successfully by either the wake word or by pressing the voice control button on the steering wheel, but Siri then just pauses and doesn’t pick up on any audio from the microphone.

Siri hasn’t paused or frozen, as the icon is pulsing and “listening” for audio, but it doesn’t pick up on anything I say, almost as if the mic is muted (it isn’t, it’s just an illustrative comparison!).

Similarly, when making a call, no-one can hear me on the other end of the phone. This is also the same if someone calls me and I answer when connected to CarPlay.

I haven’t had an issue with this at all until installing the iOS 18 betas, and my partner’s phone which is running the current release version of iOS 17 doesn’t exhibit this issue at all, which would seem to rule out a cable or connection issue. I have also tried to completely remove the car from CarPlay in iOS Settings.app and reset it up from scratch, but this hasn't made any difference.

Anyone else noticed this, or found a workaround?

Audio not being heard while on a call has happened to me several times on iOS18 Beta. But for me the audio cuts out in the middle of the call. It starts out working fine and then they can't hear me.

I haven't found a workaround except just turning on speaker on the phone. But make sure you put in a bug report.
