Carrier Logo on non jailbroken 3gs

A buddy of mine just upgraded from his jailbroken 3g iPhone to a 3gs with 3.1. Obviously it is not jailbroken yet but his carrier logo is still customized from when he had his 3g. How can that be?

Restore from backup?

Yes he did but I didn't think that those changes would carry over.

Same thing happened to mine. I was Jailbroken and running Makitmine. Upgraded to 3.1 and it kept my carrier setting that I had on there. Everything works fine even though it doesn't say AT&T. I do not currently have my phone JB.

If he didn't select "Set up as new phone" several JB gremlins carried over.
