ok well i changed the carrier name to my name when i was using 2.0.2 but now that i updated the phone the carrier name is still the same but i want it back to normal. how do i correct this problem?

probably wait until the dev team jailbreaks 2.1
You could try doing a clean restore, wiping everything out, and not restoring it from a phone backup that iTunes did, but by resyncing all the stuff back to it from the copy your computer retains.
Are they synced to your computer?
If so, then when you have resynced everything (mind you: remember to setup a new phone, not restore from backup) via the sync it should be very similar to how you had it before. You wont have any texts though, but I believe that is the only think you lose, assuming everything is being synced.
