Ok just jailbroke with Pwnage and was restoring my backup and got a notice about a carrier update. Now I should deny that correct? Also is there a way to stop this from notifying me?

You WANT carrier files. They cant hurt you / your JB phone / your possible unlocked phone.

So carrier update does not update baseband?

I seem to read conflicting info in this forum. I'm pretty sure that the latest carrier update 5.6 doesn't break JB but can you please confirm that the old baseband is safe too, thus preserving the unlock?

It's better to be safe than sorry

Thanks for the replies.

DHL, it wasn't that I didn't read the 3 replies. All the above replies simply state that it is safe generally (plus "possible unlock"). I know many jailbreakers don't care about unlock. That's why I wanted a clarification on the baseband. Because once the new baseband is in, the unlock is probably gone forever, unlike the firmware update. It's better to be safe than sorry.

But thanks again to everyone who replied!!

Mystical didn't know if your phone was unlocked (you only mentioned JB) so he wrote They can't (without the apostrophe) hurt your JB / (possibly) unlocked phone.

Good luck
