I'm a long-time lurker of these forums and alway see topics on Carrier updates or files..I'm on O2 Ireland and have never heard of these? Am I supposed to get them or something?

Mine appeared on iTunes sync. Maybe your carrier just got it right in the first place.

You may get them every now and then but the main reason why you saw a lot of them is mainly due to AT&T in the US not supporting MMS in the launch of 3.0 like the rest of the world. Updating the carrier file to one that was reprogramed by someone enabled it for a few US users. Now that it is officially out in the US you will probably see a lot less of them.
