Carrying Bag

I need advice on a carrying bag for my MacBook Pro. I have a sholder-strap bag already, that I use, but I had a little accident today. I was at the bank, and my bag slipped of my sholder (now this is after walking down a street and taking 2 busses without incident) and hit the floor. I was embarrassed, of course, but even worse, after examining my laptop I found a nice little present (a dent) in the back left of the bottom case. It's not a big deal, but I want to prevent anything further from happening, and I want to use a backpack that I have. My only concern with that is that a Genious at an Apple Store told me that those bags aren't good for the aluminum computers, after I brought in my unsightly PowerBook. So, I guess I have 3 questions: Will this cause a problem with the electronics of my computer, and if so, will Apple repair it? Is it possible to get the dent out? And, what are my options in terms of bags?

I love my sleeve from Waterfield Bags (www.sfbags.com). I slip the PB into it and then into almost any carrying bag I want -- sometimes I use a regular backpack, sometimes a messenger bag and sometimes just a canvas tote. Protects the PB quite well. sfbags sales people are knowedgabe, efficent, pleasant, and shipping is quick. No, I don't work for them, just a happy consumer.

Here is a question I had regarding carrying bags. Since I have a macbook that gets incredibly hot...is it probably smart to turn the macbook off before putting it in bag. I wouldnt want the bag to catch on fire or anything !!!

i always wondered if it was ok to let it sleep while in a case/bag..

i wouldn't leave it on sleep mode inside a sleeve/bag for long periods of time

I thought the inCase Neoprene sleeves looked good, and plan on buying one when I get my MBP. I've only seen good things about them.

My PB goes completely cold when it goes to sleep, identical to off. Does the MBP not do this?

Agree'd ive owned them before.. everytime i pick up a lappy ill buy one.. ive used them on ibook, powerbook, macbook, and mac book pro. Right now im using the limited NYC edition one.. cause i bought my MBP @ the SoHo store

actually i don't know if it does or not, i'm planning to get it when it refreshes... but my iBook doesn't have much heat on sleep either

It DOES get cold when in sleep mode, just like a powerbook
