Cartoon animation software suggestions please

Hi,

I am new to cartoon animation. Have been producing some animations in Flash but I want to go further. I have been doing illustration work for years; primarily using Painter.

Can anyone suggest any package that includes not only visual cartoon animation software but also includes sound software?

How about dubbing animations in Final Cut Express HD?

One possible solution might be a package from Celsys seems to offer interesting features if there was a probably maintained English version of their website.

Any ideas are most appreciated!

I'm not sure bout the sound side of things but I remember playing around with a copy of Toon Boom Studio a while back and I'd say that could be what you want. Its supposed to be powerful enough.
As far as I know tho, Painter supports Onion skinning so you could just keep using that.

Maybe their is a deluxe version of comic life which can do that.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! I have been using Comic Life for a while and its great.
I just downloaded a trial of Toon Box Studio and it seems very promising. Let's see what this software can really do!

Very nice indeed! I'm still getting used to my Wacom pad...I can't move away from paper!!!

I still sketch on paper then scan my stuff in and import to the stage in Flash 8 as I still like to do a rough draft with pencil or pen. I stayed in my artroom for a few days to get my tablet how I wanted it and to get use to it as it is a touch different.
Nice looking work, keep it up and you'll do very well I must say I'm waiting for Painter 9.5 to arrive as I've been using the demo some here and there and wow is it nice!

I know what I'm about to offer isnt animation in the sense you're talking about but iStop Motion is pretty cool and easy to use for Claymation.
