So I've only had my MacBook for less then a week and this happens.. the casing close to the iSight camera is coming off. It is a refurbished model so I'm guessing defects would be normal with them? Has this happened to anyone else? Since I'm a new Mac owner I'm not really sure what to do, I'm thinking of taking a trip to the Apple Store to see what the people at the Genius Bar can do and if they can take care of it. Will this be covered by my warranty since I just got it recently? Ahh! Someone reply with some good news please.. sigh. Any advice would be great and I really appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

I scheduled an appointment at the Genius Bar for today for them to take a look. I also noticed smaller openings around the whole screen area and also above the ports. I also took a look under it and closer to the port side of the casing has a little bump protruding out, this is crazy. I'm really curious if this has happened to anyone else? Will they have to ship my MacBook back to California? I don't think I can be without this MacBook ever since I got it, haha. Hope they can fix this.

Genius bar it!

But just for future reference, be careful not to squeeze your macbook closed.

You can try pinching it back together for a quick fix, but I'd strongly suggest taking it to the Genius bar before the refurb warranty expires. Apple is generally very good about taking care of customers who buy refurbs and experience problems (which is a small percentage of refurb purchasers).

Yes, I agree. When I got my PowerBook, the Airport extreme antenna wire that connects to the card fell out. The only thing is if they dont want to fix it, ask to talk to a supervisor the first person I talked too said they would not cover it and it would need logic board replacement, he was really nice but I wanted a second opinion and asked for a supervisor the supervisor apologized and said that it could be done without a logicboard replacement. The very next day I got a box to send it back and it was done in ONE DAY didnt cost me a cent. I always get my Macs in the refurd store, Im sure they will fix it for you.

The refurbished warranty lasts for a year from purchase date right? The same as new Macs purchased as well correct? Just wondering.. if it were to happen again.

Correct. And IIRC, it is also AppleCare eligible, if purchased within that year, just like a new machine.
