After installing the 10.15.1 Catalina update my iMac won't boot. The progress bar stalls about 2/3 of the way across and it never completes. If I hold the start button down until it forces a shutdown and then immediately reboot it will start. Considering what pieces of **** Catalina and XCode 11 are, you should probably not install them.

Thanks for the heads up, probably best for people to wait to upgrade. That is what I have been doing for the past few years ever since iOS 9 turned my iPad Mini 2 into a paperweight.

10.15 is a mess.

What iMac are you using?

Each time I started my computer it want a little farther before stalling out. Finally today it booted normally.

This seems like some issue with your GPU being supported in Catalina. See the issue I described in this thread, very similar to yours: Downgraded to Mojave, best thing I ever did!

Now, with the release of Catalina 10.15.1 they solved this issue for my Vega Pro 20 but maybe not for your GPU yet. You need to contact Apple and report this.

I updated my 2019 15" MacBook Pro to 10.15.1 this morning, and it has failed, and now I am stuck in a loop.

I get a message saying:

macOS could not be installed on your computer.
Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

When I click on Restart, it boots into macOS and then immediately reboots to try the update again.

No idea how to fix this piece of crap.
