This has been an ongoing bug for a while; every now and then I get a "Your computer has detected a potential problem" dialog caused by the EFI firmware being "behind" what the OS expects. It's been stuck at 170.0.0.0.0 for a few months now over several updates, and this still hasn't been fixed.

Some googling has shown I'm not the only one with this problem; it seems to be common on iMac 17,1 (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015). Can a few others with this machine chime in so we can see if everyone is having this issue or just some people? Check what your EFI firmware is in System Report and see if it's 170.0.0.0.0 or something later.

It's not super urgent as the machine seems to work fine, but it's worrying that it's been this long and the problem hasn't been fixed. I click "Send to Apple" each time the dialog pops up, but haven't heard anything back from them.

There's this article, in case you haven't seen it: https://eclecticlight.co/2020/03/25/do-you-have-an-imac-retina-5k-27-inch-late-2015-imac171/

Hmm. Since this is an issue that appears to affect a lot of people, maybe mods/staff could bring more attention to it? Maybe front page it, even?

Firmware not upgrading can lead to security concerns and system instability, and from what I can tell, a LOT of iMac17,1 systems are stuck on 170.0.0.0.0.
