I know wizards don't exist, but maybe someone has an idea based on previous releases

You need the full installer from the App Store, not a Combo update, to go between major versions. The App Store shows the 10.15.6 installer is available for me now.

OK, I used dosdude1's latest version of his patcher procedure to download the full installation file for OS 10.15.6. When I do a Get Info on the file, it says the version is 15.6.00.

Unfortunately, I cannot install it, as SuperDuper! still has not been updated yet for compatibility with OS 10.15.5. I am currently on OS 10.15.4. Would like to get to OS 10.15.6, as it will (most likely) be the last version of Catalina to be released.

There is definitely one good thing about OS 10.15.6. If folks remember, OS 10.15.5 "broke" both SuperDuper! (SD) and Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) regarding bootable backups. CCC issued an initial fix almost immediately, then came out with another version a week or so later. SD meanwhile still had (nor has) no fix. Well, I queried Shirt Pocket Support earlier today about a status, and I was told that OS 10.15.6 fixes the issue that came up via OS 10.15.5. So, one (including myself) can use the latest version of SD after installing/upgrading to OS 10.15.6. That is certainly good news, as I want to remain up to date. And especially where OS 10.15.6 will, likely, be the last version of Catalina Apple releases.

I will make one final SD backup for each of my Macs on Saturday, do a fresh. clean installation of OS 10.15.6, and then migrate/copy needed files, folders, settings, etc. from that just completed backup. I will then be good to go.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for that great news about SuperDuper and OS 10.15.6
I'm running OS 10.15.5 now but the latest clone I have is OS 10.15.4 with SuperDuper. Looks like I'll up date to 10.15.6 tomorrow than.

You are most welcome! I initially upgraded to OS 10.15.5, but when the SD backup would not boot, I reverted back to OS 10.15.4. Now we can move forward!

I would suggest you have the V10.15.4 installer of Catalina (if you can get it). I have it on both of my Macs, and just in case something goes wrong, I can revert back. But again, according to Dave Nanian of Shirt Pocket, everything should be fine with the most recent version of SD and OS 10.15.6.

As usually, the update download never finishes (at least, not for me - downloads, but doesn't install. Stopped working well a few updates back). Strongly recommend the full installer or the combo installer.

Is there ever a question? *Always* use the combo installer, never trust an Apple delta, whether it's OS X or iOS.
I support a couple hundred Macs. I always just use software update.
On a computer going from 10.15.3 to 10.15.6, Software Update will just download the combo updater anyway- this is what the combo is designed for.

You've GOT to be kidding. On "a couple hundred Macs", you waste your time with Software Update. Uh, no. Don't believe it.

Further, so often the recommended way to fix an Apple update gone bad is to install the combo updater. Far easier to just not waste the time with the delta in the first place.

Obviously, but not relevant.

More correctly, the updates are applied by the computers themselves via the software update mechanism. I’m not doing it manually, I’m not downloading the updaters to run, and I’m not applying combo updates when the delta update works fine.
