In System Preferences/General, be sure that “Close windows when quitting an app” is checked, and in Finder preferences/General, select something other than “Recents” under ”New Finder windows show.”

Checked both settings in General and Finder. Setting as you suggest. Settings have always been as you stated since I have owned this computer. Seems to just started as latest Security Update 2021-003. Perplexed.

Restarted and checked User Group settings. Same. Restarted. Now no Recent items work as setting as (0) as original. Thanks for replying. Strange.
TKS again for reply.
