Hi

Does anyone have experience with the migration of iTunes to Music if your iTunes library is on an external drive?

Ditto for iPhone backups via iTunes on an external drive. Does the symlink to the backup have to be recreated?

I am holding off migrating in case there are pitfalls.

Thanks

I have my library on an external 8 TB USB disk, no problems. Music will download new album artwork. If you have audiobooks they will be moved to Books (real audiobooks, not mp3 collections).

My iPhone 5C with iOS 10.3.3 shows up in Finder as expected. Latest backup is still there.

Don't worry.

The one issue I had updating to Catalina was my Views preferences from iTunes are all gone since the new Music app is a different app altogether.

I wish I'd taken a screenshot of my iTunes window so I could set the view options the way I like songs sorted.

Just finally got around to updating to Catalina and now I'm unable to access my audiobooks in the new Books app. The reason being that all of my data is on an external and I have a small internal SSD that doesn't have nearly enough space to migrate. By default, when you open the new Books app, it tries to migrate everything to the home user directory on the startup. It fails because of the space available and as far as I can tell, unlike Music, there is no option to change the default storage location.
