Catalina appeared twice (2 HD) on my desktop!!!

Just used Dosdude Catalina patch on a brand new Samsung 860 EVO in my cMP 5.1, everything went OK but when I restarted under Mojave, I have 2 Mac OS Catalina images on my desktop, why?
Is there a way to have just one of them on the desktop as I didn't do 2 installs on 2 separate drives!?

Just how many times has it been said already that Mac OS Catalina creates two separate volumes, one read only volume for system, and another one for everything else?

It's normal. Leave it as it is.


When you show hard disks on your desktop, you will see that there is only one. System partition is invisible for most time.

Exact, when I boot under Catalina I have just one HD icon....but when I reboot under Mojave I have 2 Catalina HD icons. Then it is normal.

No, not the same....Mojave is on a separate AHCI blade. Catalina is on a SSD Drive. 2 different hard drives...one for each system/OS

Ah, OK.

It is normal, Mojave will see it as two separate volumes, but Catalina as one only.

Try not to do anything, merge partitions and such. Leave it as it is.

Catalina has now placed the system files in a separate volume so they can't be accidentally deleted or tampered with. Your regular files are in the other volume. Nothing to be concerned about. The system files are on a small partition about 10gb.
