My iCloud Drive is not syncing and i can not enable "Folders and Documents", i can tick the box for "Folders and Documents" but when i press OK i gets unticked again.

Is this a known problem with beta 7? Any workarounds?

I'm having the exact same problem but I did notice that, after ticking it (after a million attempts) and leaving it open, eventually iCloud Drive appears in my sidebar, inside it lists my folders.. Now it says I have two Documents folders and is redownloading all the files.. I really dont get it. No files on my desktop but it's redownloading them into a different Desktop folder.

My advice is don't restart your computer, it results in something different happening to iCloud Drive each time. I can't really access anything. The only workaround I can think of is iCloud.com, and just work online or download the files to your computer (and manually replace them when a fix is available).

iCloud Drive is a mess in the latest beta. They also keep moving it around (in the ~/Library folder) which leads me to believe they're having a good play with it. So much so, even the release notes warn of issues with it.

I'd suggest not trying to fix it with reboots etc and just live with it until the next beta. If you can, as you get access to files copy them locally and use local versions until it stabilises and you can copy them back.

I literally can't figure out what went where. It's a **** show. And at least one important file just... disappeared. I've not had this many icloud issues since it was MobileMe. What were they thinking?

Is it on iCloud.com? Very weird. Mines a mess but I’ve been lucky to not have data loss at least.

Well...

For example. I did a little digging to try and find the most recent versions of my files.

There are tons of "recovered" and multiple document folders etc. And I can't figure out what is what.

On a Mojave machine I had a shortcut in my dock to most of my known current Numbers/Pages docs, which I have been using (because they synced so well before between all the devices... ugh). They were still there, and editable/viewable. This gave me a huge sense of relief, as I thought I lost them.

However I could not actually use the finder to see them. They're hidden somehow, where Numbers & Pages could see them, but the Finder can't. I managed to copy them to a new folder off the root of my icloud drive called something like "CURRENT FILES". Mojave iMac Pro can see them. iOS 13.1 can see them (and edit them, and they sync on both an XS Max and 2018 iPad). Which is good to know considering how messed up 13.1 beta 1 is.

And iCloud.com can see them and open them. Beta Icloud.com can also see and work on them.

ONLY Catalina latest beta (on a quad core 13" MBP) can't. So it's really screwed up, Catalina.
They're going to launch this in a month? Oh boy. lol

The previous Catalina beta had the iCloud drive files in
~/Library/CloudStorage/iCloud Drive

but it's now in
~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~CloudDocs

You may need to update your Finder shortcuts and/or your privacy settings in Spotlight. However, iCloud Drive is still a mess, so this may not work anyway.

I have the same issue but its not restricted to iCloud. My dropbox folder does not upload to the dropbox cloud either. No uploads from files are going. Mail, Calendars etc. all work fine, just the files.

As long as they were still linking, you could CMD+click them to open them to their Finder location. (Unless it was completely broken.

I had some issues with iCloud and beta 7 as well, but it has leveled out and things seem to be functioning. Back in a beta of Mountain Lion I think, I also had severe iCloud issues that led to actual loss, not just rearrangement!

Same here. It doesn't sync. It downloads the files once, but then they all - strangely - end up in upload mode. Which makes no sense cause it just downloaded them, so there's nothing to upload.

It's a massively unstable mess.

I just can't see what they have changed to make it so messed up - this has been baked in for like 2 versions of OSX. I get adding features - but to mess up basic sync is mind boggling.

Beta 8 fixed all of it for me.

But yes, it's ridiculous how a beta, this late in the game, can really mess up iCloud Drive in such a bad way.
