Catalina - Bootcamp is not partitioning the Hard Disk

Hi,

I am trying to install Windows 10 on my MacBook Pro (2017) version (MacOS: Catalina, Version 10.15.2). I

1. Took the backup on external hard disk.
2. Downloaded the ISO file for Windows 10
3. Ran Bootcamp.
4. While partitioning, it says that "your disk couldn't be partitioned".
5. I ran disk utility first Aid on both disks (Mac HD and Mac HD-Data) and restarted MacBook.
6. Retried bootcamp but same error.
7. Booted with SU and ran "/sbin/fsck -fy" but it gives:
warning: option -f not implemented. Ignoring
error: container /dev/rdisk1 is mounted with write access.

Please can someone help?

Hi,

Have the same problem as MacProUserNY. Same hardware, now Catalina 10.15.4.

Running Boot Camp Assistant returns "The startup disk does not have enough space to be partitioned"

Can anyone suggest what to do?

Grateful for any replies...

Well, just found another thread with the answer to my problem! Just need to run with an admin account - should have figured that out for myself. Obviously, partitioning the drive is not something a normal user should do!

Wait did this work? I am getting exactly the same thing as described, but i am the admin and trying to install as admin. I can’t find a solution to this anywhere! Maybe if i set up another User account? Driving me absolutely crazy...

Yes it DID work! But I think I had to try a couple of times with a reboot between. Sorry can't remember exactly, but you need to know that it did work in the end. Good luck!
