Guys, i would appreciate if someone could shed some light on as to whether a MP 3,1 with a Catalina patch (Dosdude's) will be able run the the above-mentioned GPUs. I have read some conflicting advises (or i am just confused) that since SSE4.2 is not present in the Xeons, the Rxs' will not work. I also have seen posts that the Dosdude's patch has incorporated the SSE4.2 emulator in the patch, hence the Catalina Patch being run in a MP 3,1 would be able to make use of the RXs'.

Thank you

The Mojave and Catalina drivers for AMD RX4* and RX5* cards require some SSE 4.2 instructions. None of the CPUs available in a Mac Pro 3,1 have those instructions, so those video cards won't work on an unmodified MacOS installation on an MP3,1. However, every version of Dosdude's Catalina patcher since 1.2.0 (late 2019) has included the MouSSE SSE4.2 emulator, and it's automatically enabled for MP3,1 installations (although it never hurts to verify that it's checked when you're running the patcher).

Using MouSSE, AMD RX4* and RX5* cards that are supported by MacOS will work in Catalina (or Mojave) on an MP3,1. (Note that some versions of those cards, like RX550, are not supported by MacOS - this isn't an SSE4.2 issue; those GPUs contain different chips that the MacOS drivers don't support).
