My computer has become practically unusable since the last security updates. Constantly beach balling and extremely slow on any program I open, even Finder and system preferences have slowed to a frocking halt.

Anyone else having issues with it? This is on a a 15” 2012 MBP unibody with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

I did a recent Catalina install (dosdude1 unsupported) on a 2008 MacBook and I'm not having any such issues.

I did the installation after the last Catalina security update was released (December 13, 2021)…the update was rolled into the installer I presume.

For you it might be worth a shot to do a non-destructive reinstallation of Catalina over your present system.

Another approach, before and/or after a reinstall attempt, would be to test a new user account to see if the issues disappear.

I had a similar experience.
After a few hours everything went back to normal.

It's been several days to a week for me.

I when ahead and reinstalled MacOS after trying most of the Apple Support recommendations, and it seems marginally better. Some apps are still slow to open and websites in safari are very slow.

It looks like with the reinstall process, .008 was rolled back, which I think was part of the issues.

I will also try this if I continue to have problems. Last resort is a wipe and fresh install of Cat I suppose.
