I figured out how to share from my iTunes mac mini movie server. I see it on my Apple TV

I have no idea how to view those movies shared by the mac mini on my iMac.

Movies that I've bought show up but nothing I ripped and is shared by the mac mini is available on my iMac.

Help? Thanks

So you've got Home Sharing turned on on your Mac Mini - shared as, say, "Fred's Library". You can successfully see "Fred's Library" on your Apple TV.

And you want to see "Fred's Library" in the TV app on your iMac too...

It's easy once you know - but its really well hidden. See the word 'Library' that appears in grey at the top of the left hand sidebar in the TV app on the iMac? It's got a tiny 'v' symbol after it. Click that symbol and you get a menu with the options 'My Library' and 'Fred's Library'.

The same goes for the Music app too.

I do appreciate your reply.
That's exactly what I've been looking for. Unfortunately there is no carrot in the left sidebar. Not in TV, not in music. When the mouse is over the line with the word Library the word "Edit" appears on the right side of that line but that just allows me to check or uncheck what I want to see. Doesn't include external home shares.

That's strange - there's obviously more to it than meets the eye.

Are you sure you're signed in in the TV app on the iMac with the same apple id as you're using for Home Sharing on the Mac Mini?

Yup. I've been using iTunes like this for literally years. Everything under the same apple ID.
(edit) I'm going to try turning on the home sharing on my iMac and see if that does it.

I’ve got the same setup as you - a Mac Mini witn all my movies on and home sharing enabled, an an iMac. Both are on Catalina, neither was on any betas for it. Home sharing is not enabled on the iMac.

Do you have any other devices - other than your Apple TV? - like an iPhone or iPad? Can you see your Home sharing library on those?

You have to turn on home sharing even on machines that have no library but you want to use the shared library. Weird but there it is.
